- LDWF’s final estimate puts the 2026 private recreational red snapper season at 934,367 pounds — 51,928 pounds, or 5.7 percent, over the 882,439-pound Louisiana allocation. The season ran 109 days.
- LDH, LDEQ, and LDWF issued two new mercury fish-consumption advisories on Sept. 24 — Mermentau River and Lake Arthur, and Vermilion River and Bayou Tortue — and updated five others. The state now lists 52 freshwater mercury advisories.
- LDWF reopened private and state-charter red snapper Sept. 4–7 after LA Creel showed 35,109 pounds left of the 882,439-pound 2026 allocation — then shut it until further notice.
