Wisconsin board meets Oct. 28 on fishing scopes and Superior lake trout
The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board meets in person at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, in Room 121 of the Tommy G. Thompson Center, 201 W. Washington Ave., Madison. The Department of Natural Resources will stream the session on its YouTube channel. People who want to testify, or to file written comments, must register by 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026. Remote testimony by Zoom may be accepted.
Fishing items include approval of a Statement of Scope for FH-09-26, covering chapters NR 19 through 26 and changes to fishing regulations on inland, outlying, and boundary waters, along with conditional approval of a public hearing notice. A second scope, FH-13-26, on gill-net requirements for commercial fishing in chapters NR 20 and 25, is up for the same scope approval and conditional hearing notice. The board is also asked to approve department recommendations for Lake Superior lake trout quotas. That vote follows the Oct. 15 public meeting in Ashland on the WI-2 quota; this session is the board action, not that hearing. Informational updates cover commercial fishing on Lake Michigan and Lake Superior.
The same agenda includes groundwater items on PFAS and pesticides.
