- The invitation-only IGFA Permit Invitational runs Sept. 29–Oct. 2, 2026, out of Hilton Key West Resort & Marina on Stock Island. Fishing days are Sept. 30–Oct. 2, fly only, lines in at 8:00 a.m. and lines out at 4:30 p.m.
- FWC began removing about 31 acres of floating tussock from Lake Weir in Marion County on Sept. 25. Little Lake Weir stays closed to access until the work is done, with a target of Dec. 18.
- FWC added eight harvest days so Gulf private-recreational red snapper stays open continuously Oct. 9–22, lining up with Florida’s Atlantic EFP window.
- FWC set the 2026 recreational Atlantic red snapper season for Oct. 9–22 in state and federal waters. Bag is one fish, no minimum size, under a federal exempted fishing permit, with a trip declaration required.
- FWC opened the 2026 Gulf private-recreational red snapper fall season daily Sept. 1–Oct. 4, and reopened snook harvest Sept. 1 in all east-coast and most west-coast management regions.
