Pennsylvania lifts game-fish limits at Hunters Lake and Stevens Lake ahead of drawdowns
Two northeastern Pennsylvania lakes are about to be drawn down, and anglers can keep what they catch before the water drops. Notices in the Oct. 24 Pennsylvania Bulletin say Fish and Boat Commission Executive Director Timothy Schaeffer used the agency's temporary-change authority (58 Pa. Code § 65.25) to modify fishing rules at Hunters Lake in Sullivan County and Stevens Lake in Wyoming County.
At Hunters Lake, all seasons, minimum sizes and daily limits are lifted for game fish except trout. Trout there stay under the normal statewide inland rules. At Stevens Lake, the order lifts seasons, sizes and limits for all game fish, trout included.
The commission says the changes are needed to manage the fish in both lakes ahead of the drawdowns. They take effect once posted at each lake and stay in place until April 8, 2027, unless the commission acts sooner. Anglers still need a valid Pennsylvania fishing license, and should look for the posted notices at the access areas before keeping fish.
