Oregon razor clams close coastwide after domoic acid samples
Oregon razor clams are shut coastwide. The Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Department of Agriculture said Oct. 2, 2026, that recent samples put domoic acid above the safety threshold. The closure covers every beach, including the popular dig at Clatsop Beach.
Mussel harvest on the southern coast reopened after those samples fell below the alert level, and mussels are now open coastwide. Bay clams are open coastwide. Crabs are open coastwide. Reopening a biotoxin closure takes two consecutive tests under the limit. ODA says it will keep testing at least twice a month, as tides and weather allow.
Call the Shellfish Safety Hotline at 1-800-448-2474 before you dig, or check the ODA recreational shellfish biotoxin page. The ODA shellfish desk is (503) 986-4726. ODFW’s Matt Hunter is the fisheries contact at (971) 606-0428. License, permit, and limit questions stay with ODFW. This biotoxin closure is separate from the Eagle Creek angling closure already on the desk.
