Columbia managers add a Chinook weekend and unmarked coho days through mid-October
Fishery managers from Oregon and Washington added recreational salmon days on the mainstem Columbia during a joint state hearing on Sept. 23, 2026. Anglers can retain Chinook over the weekend of Sept. 26–27 from the Buoy 10 line upstream to the Highway 395 bridge at Pasco, Washington. Unmarked coho retention runs from the west Puget Island line upstream to that same Pasco bridge starting Saturday, Sept. 26, through Oct. 15.
Daily adult bags depend on the stretch. From the Buoy 10 line upstream to the west Puget Island line on Sept. 26 and 27, the limit is three salmon — Chinook or hatchery coho — and only one may be a Chinook. From the west Puget Island line upstream to the Highway 395 bridge at Pasco on those same two days, the limit is two salmon — Chinook or coho — and only one may be a Chinook. On that upstream stretch from Monday, Sept. 28, through Wednesday, Sept. 30, the daily adult limit is two coho.
ODFW said coho retention, including unmarked coho from Oct. 1 through Oct. 15 upstream of west Puget Island, is expected to go ahead as planned before the season. Staff will keep watching the fisheries, and further modifications may occur. Other permanent rules in the current Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations stay in effect. Review the 2026 pamphlet and the in-season updates before you fish.
