Oklahoma opens comment on 2027 fishing-rule proposals through Nov. 6
Oklahoma anglers have until 4:30 p.m. Nov. 6 to comment on the Wildlife Department’s 2027 rule package. An Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation notice dated Oct. 2, 2026, says the proposals amend Title 800, the rules for hunting, fishing, and department operations. The Wildlife Conservation Commission is scheduled to discuss and possibly act on them Dec. 7, 2026.
On the fishing side, the notice lists three items. Resident lifetime fishing-license holders could convert to a lifetime combination fishing and hunting license by paying the current combo price minus what they already paid for the fishing license. The aggregate limit and harvest limit for crappie on “Close to Home” waters would come out of the rule, and crappie size and bag limits on those waters could then be set by commission resolution. Watercraft and gear would have to be drained when leaving any Oklahoma water, including drain plugs from bilges, live wells, ballast tanks, and other compartments that hold water. The same notice also lists hunting and land proposals, from a nonresident deer-license waiting period to feral-hog shooting restrictions on Canton, Keystone, and Spavinaw wildlife management areas.
Comments can go three ways. The online form is the “Leave Your Comments” link at wildlifedepartment.com/public-meeting, open until 4:30 p.m. Nov. 6. Letters go to Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, Re: Public Comment, P.O. Box 53465, Oklahoma City, OK 73152, postmarked by that same deadline. The in-person hearing starts at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the John D. Groendyke Wildlife Conservation Building, 1801 N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City. The full strike-and-underline text is linked by chapter from the public-meeting page.
