New Hampshire sets Nov. 10 hearing on freshwater fishing rule package

New Hampshire Fish and Game will hold a public hearing Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2026, at 6 p.m. at headquarters, 11 Hazen Drive in Concord, on a freshwater fishing rule package. Written comments are due through Nov. 18 at comments@wildlife.nh.gov.

The proposal readopts and amends pieces of Fis 400 plus bait-import and tournament rules. Changes flagged in the rulemaking notice include updating the live-bait species list, fixing a hook-rule cross-reference, stating an explicit daily bag on lake trout and salmon waters, clarifying tournament restrictions, and aligning the bait-import form with the updated species list. Free Fishing Day (Fis 1203.01) is up for readoption so it does not expire.

The package also readopts several previously expired sections covering river herring, ice-fishing and open-water restrictions, and shared waters including the Salmon Falls River, Great East Lake and Umbagog Lake. Anyone who fishes New Hampshire fresh water is in the affected group. The East Conference Room hearing is in person only.
