Mississippi certifies three new saltwater records: Atlantic bonito, short bigeye and Gulf flounder

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources has certified three new state saltwater fishing records for October, all in the conventional tackle division.
Christopher Barlow of Vancleave set two of them. His Atlantic bonito weighed 4 pounds, 13.53 ounces, and his short bigeye, a small, deep-bodied reddish fish, weighed 12.87 ounces.
The third record goes to an out-of-state angler. Jeremy Gunter of Creola, Alabama, set the Gulf flounder mark with a fish weighing 2 pounds, 7.36 ounces.
