Navarre pier: pompano, cobia, Spanish and reds in 78-degree water

The Navarre Beach pier in Florida's Panhandle kept producing a mixed bag this weekend, according to Randy Meredith's Sunday, Oct. 25 report for Navarre Newspaper. By 3 p.m., anglers had caught whiting, redfish, pompano, Spanish mackerel, black drum and cobia.
On Saturday, the pier gave up bluefish, an octopus, redfish, sharks and black drum.
Sunday's conditions were sunny, with a yellow flag, northeast winds at 7 to 16 mph, 1- to 4-foot waves, clearing water and a water temperature of 78 degrees. The report listed 6 to 7 a.m., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. as the best times to fish. The pier is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and a fishing license is included with admission.
