CPW lifts South Platte and Clear Creek voluntary fishing closures

US FishingColorado

Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Northeast Region lifted all voluntary fishing closures effective immediately in a notice dated Oct. 7, 2026. Water temperatures have improved. Anglers should still watch low flows on the South Platte and Cherry Creek.

The rescinded closures cover the South Platte (Dream Stream) from the Eleven Mile Reservoir inlet upstream to Spinney Mountain Dam; the South Platte from the Spinney Mountain Reservoir inlet upstream to the confluence of the Middle and South Forks; the Middle Fork South Platte from its confluence with the South Fork upstream to Highway 285; the South Fork South Platte from its confluence with the Middle Fork upstream to Highway 285; and Clear Creek from Vanover Park in Golden upstream to the Tunnel 1 Trailhead.

CPW asks anglers to check the 2026 Weather and Drought Closures page and the CPW Fishing Atlas before traveling.
