San Diego Sunday: Sea Watch hits 178 yellowfin, New Seaforth's half-day lands 113

Late-October yellowfin fishing out of San Diego got even better on Sunday, Oct. 25, according to Seaforth Sportfishing's update. The Sea Watch's full-day trip finished with 178 yellowfin tuna and 17 skipjack for 28 anglers, up from 110 yellowfin the day before. The landing says sniper-style jigs have been getting bit, but recommends bringing a 20- to 30-pound live-bait setup as well. Passports are not currently required for that trip.

The New Seaforth had what the landing called an epic morning half day, with 113 yellowfin. Its afternoon half day went back inshore for bass, barracuda and mixed species. The San Diego's full day reported 40 yellowfin and 52 skipjack, with small jigs and poppers working for anglers throwing artificials.

Among the multiday boats, the Apollo returned from a two-day trip with 88 yellowfin, 70 skipjack, a dorado, 5 marlin and 2 wahoo. The Pacifica's two-day trip brought back 43 yellowfin, 23 dorado, 6 skipjack and 3 yellowtail, and the Tribute returned from a day and a half with 62 skipjack.

Across the bay, Point Loma Sportfishing said the New Lo-An came back from a three-day private charter with 43 yellowfin up to 75 pounds for nine passengers.
