CDFW’s trout schedule lists Berryessa this week and Caples and Silver Lake next

California’s hatchery trout list for the next stretch of October is short, and it is a schedule, not a guarantee that the trucks have already rolled. The Department of Fish and Wildlife public planting schedule, which hatchery staff update and which can change with roads, water, weather, and operations, does not publish a day inside each week.

For the week of Oct. 11–17, 2026, the sheet lists trout at Lake Berryessa in Napa County, Crater Lake in Lassen County, and Greenhorn Reservoir in Siskiyou County. That is the week ending today.

The following week, Oct. 18–24, the schedule moves to two Sierra lakes: Caples Lake in Alpine County and Silver Lake in Amador County, both listed for trout. CDFW says the waters on the schedule are due for catchable-size fish when conditions allow, and that a more exact day is withheld so fishing pressure does not pile up on the plant.

This is a The Gillnet news desk summary, not a reprint.
