Upper Yukon salmon permits expired Oct. 15; harvest reports are due Oct. 25

Upper Yukon households are on a deadline for last season’s salmon permits. An Alaska Department of Fish and Game advisory announcement released Oct. 16, 2026 — Fall Fishery Announcement #28 — says subsistence and personal-use salmon fishing permits in the Upper Yukon Area expired Oct. 15. Harvest reports are due Oct. 25, and a report is required even if the household did not fish or did not catch anything.

The permit areas on the reminder are the Yukon River communities of Rampart, Yukon River Bridge, Circle, and Eagle, and the Tanana River’s Subdistrict 6-A at Manley, Subdistrict 6-B at Nenana and Minto, and personal use in Subdistrict 6-C at Fairbanks and North Pole. A subsistence permit is required to fish for all species year-round in those Yukon River permit areas. Anyone who plans to keep fishing the rest of the year is asked to call the Fairbanks office at (907) 459-7274, report a preliminary harvest, and request a permit extension.

Reports can be entered online at adfg.alaska.gov/harvest. Tanana 6-B and 6-C permits, which have a weekly reporting requirement, need the “I’m Finished, Submit Harvest Report” step after daily harvest is entered. A household that did not fish can mark the permit as not fished. Paper permits can go to ADF&G at 1300 College Road, Fairbanks, AK 99701. The announcement says failure to report may result in denial of a household permit next year. Contact is area management biologist Matt Olson.
