Virginia DWR stocks Scottsville Lake, Clifton Forge Reservoir and more in late October

US FishingVirginia

Virginia's Department of Wildlife Resources posted another week of fall trout stockings to its daily schedule. On Oct. 29, crews stocked brown trout in Scottsville Lake in Albemarle County and rainbow, brown and tiger trout in Clifton Forge Reservoir in Alleghany County. On Oct. 28, stockings went to Laurel Fork in Floyd County, Bark Camp Lake in Scott County and Back Creek in Bath County.

Earlier in the week, on Oct. 26 and 27, trout went to the Roanoke River in Salem, Little Tumbling Creek and Lincolnshire Lake in Tazewell County, and Gullion Fork Ponds in Wythe County. Washington County's Big Brumley and Big Tumbling creeks were stocked, along with Augusta County's North River tailwater delayed-harvest section and Braley Pond.

Low flows are still holding back some waters. DWR lists Rocky Row Run, Upper Pedlar, Accotink and Holmes as unsuitable for stocking for now, and it canceled planned stockings of Stoney Creek and West Fork Reed Creek in Wythe County, to be made up later. Urban stockings are scheduled to start Nov. 9 at Ivy Creek Lake Park in Lynchburg.
