TPWD stocks channel catfish in downtown San Angelo’s Oakes Street Lake
Downtown San Angelo got a channel catfish plant on Friday, Oct. 2. San Angelo Live reported that Texas Parks and Wildlife Department crews released the fish into Oakes Street Lake on the Concho River, at 396 S. Irving St. Bank spots include The Bosque, Celebration Bridge, and the shade under the Chadbourne Street bridge.
The plant is part of TPWD’s Neighborhood Fishin’ program, which puts regular fishing close to home. At these sites the daily bag is five fish of any kind, all species combined, and only one black bass 14 inches or longer. Youth under 17 do not need a fishing license. Adults do. A one-day all-water license is $11, and an annual freshwater license is $30.
Two more stockings are on the calendar this year, Oct. 16 and Oct. 30, before the program picks up again in April 2027. The statewide Neighborhood Fishin’ map, regulations, and email list are at neighborhoodfishin.org. This downtown plant is separate from the Packery Channel pier note already on the desk.
