TWRA drops hundreds of fish attractors on Chickamauga, Watauga and Percy Priest

US FishingTennessee

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency fisheries crews are pushing artificial habitat across major reservoirs as part of the state's Black Bass Management Plan. A Nov. 7 agency write-up said Region III staff, with help from Kubota of Chattanooga, university volunteers, and grants from Friends of Reservoirs and Bass Pro Shops, put 500 long-lasting, BPA-free structures into Chickamauga Reservoir's Bill Dance Signature Lake.

Those pieces went in at several depths around tournament release areas and hatchery stocking sites so fish of different sizes and life stages have cover. In Region 4, after Hurricane Helene stripped habitat from Watauga Reservoir, TWRA partnered with TVA to plant 100 large structures and mark them for anglers.

Region 2's North Reservoir Crew added seven new sites on Percy Priest Reservoir with TN Towers and pipe structures set 14 to 24 feet deep. Region 1 also finished its annual habitat refresh on Kentucky Reservoir, where older structures have grown algae and extra complexity. TWRA maps and the "Where to Fish" section of the TWRA app show where the new attractors sit.
