South Carolina stocks 1,147 trout, including the South Saluda on Sept. 30

Upstate South Carolina’s latest trout week was lighter than the one before it, and it landed on two days. SCDNR’s weekly stocking summary for Sept. 25 through Oct. 1, 2026, lists 1,147 trout. Wednesday, Sept. 30, was the South Saluda River. Thursday, Oct. 1, was the Little Eastatoee River and Little Canebrake, the upper Eastatoee.

The same page’s previous week, Sept. 18–24, was the heavier plant: 3,128 trout. That sheet put the North and Middle Saluda on Sept. 18, the Chattooga and the East Fork of the Chattooga on Sept. 23, and on Sept. 24 the Little Eastatoee, Little Canebrake, Chauga River, and Brasstown Creek. Friday through Tuesday of the newer week show no plants.

The Lower Saluda is still the winter program. SCDNR says that tailwater’s first stocking is typically the second or third week of December, with the last plant by March, and dates are not forecast. Region 1 questions go to Dan Rankin at 864-986-6246. Lower Saluda questions go to Jason Bettinger at 803-353-8232. This week is separate from the Sept. 4–10 Saluda summary already on the desk.
