South Carolina stocks 5,693 trout the week of Oct. 9, including the Saludas on Thursday
Upstate South Carolina’s trout trucks had a heavier week. The Department of Natural Resources weekly stocking summary for Oct. 9 through Oct. 15, 2026, lists 5,693 trout. The week before, Oct. 2 through Oct. 8, the same sheet listed 2,603.
Friday, Oct. 9, the list names the Big Eastatoee, the Chattooga, and the East Fork of the Chattooga. Wednesday, Oct. 14, it is the Chattooga and the East Fork again. Thursday, Oct. 15, it is the North Saluda, the Middle Saluda, and the South Saluda. Saturday through Tuesday of that week are blank on the summary.
The page does not break the 5,693 into species. Region 1 questions go to Dan Rankin at 864-986-6246. The Lower Saluda is on a different clock: the note says its seasonal stocking usually starts the second or third week of December and finishes by March, and this weekly summary is where that river shows up if it was stocked. Jason Bettinger, 803-353-8232, is the contact for the Lower Saluda.
This is a The Gillnet news desk summary, not a reprint.
