Rhode Island stocks 14 waters with trout for Veterans Day

US FishingRhode Island

Rhode Island's Department of Environmental Management is running a special trout plant in honor of veterans. DEM said rainbow and brook trout go into 14 waterbodies from Thursday, Nov. 5, through Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2026.

The list covers Barber Pond and Tucker Pond in South Kingstown, Carbuncle Pond in Coventry, Meadow Brook Pond in Richmond, Olney Pond at Lincoln Woods, Round Top and Tarkiln ponds in Burrillville, Shippee Sawmill Pond in Foster, Silver Spring Lake in North Kingstown, Simmons Mill Pond in Little Compton, Stafford Pond in Tiverton, Watchaug Pond in Charlestown, Willett Pond in East Providence, and Wood River spots at the Route 165 check station and "The Pines" in Exeter.

Regular stocking updates stay on DEM Fish and Wildlife's Facebook page and dem.ri.gov/troutwaters. Anglers 15 and older need a 2026 fishing license, and a Trout Conservation Stamp is required to keep trout, with the usual stamp exemptions for youth, residents 65 and older, 100% disability, border-pond trout and a few other cases. Licenses are sold through DEM's Rhode Island Outdoors portal.
