Lincoln's Holmes Lake gets two new shoreline fishing platforms

US FishingNebraska

Holmes Lake in Lincoln now has two new shoreline fishing platforms. Nebraska Game and Parks Private and Community Waters specialist Jordan Katt told News Channel Nebraska the pads went in over the summer on the north and south basins. The goal was safer footing and a little more room to spread out, not docks that stick into the lake.

Katt said funding mixed a private donation with Aquatic Habitat and sport-fish dollars. The platforms are meant to help ADA access, especially for Game and Parks family fishing nights. On the north basin, look along the north shoreline east of the dam. On the south basin, look on the north shoreline near the parking lot.

Katt framed Holmes as a first run that could lead to similar pads at other Nebraska waters. Nebraskaland Magazine posted the access write-up Oct. 26, 2026, after the News Channel Nebraska story of Oct. 21.
