North Carolina’s daily sheet: no trout stocked Oct. 12 through Oct. 16

US FishingNorth Carolina

North Carolina’s latest daily trout line is a blank. The Wildlife Resources Commission stocking page for Oct. 12 through Oct. 16, 2026, says no trout were stocked in that stretch. The page covers the Public Mountain Trout Waters program and tells anglers to check back daily after noon. It does not give a reason for the empty week.

On a separate trout page, the commission says the Bobby N. Setzer State Fish Hatchery will undergo a major renovation beginning in 2026. Setzer produces over 75 percent of the trout for the agency’s stocking program. The page says there will be a reduction in trout stockings during the 2026, 2027, and potentially 2028 seasons. It does not tie that renovation sentence to the Oct. 12–16 daily sheet, so the two notices should be read as two notices.

Delayed-harvest rules are already in their fall window on waters in that classification. From Oct. 1 until a half-hour after sunset on the Friday before the first Saturday in June, the trout page says no trout may be harvested or possessed, only artificial lures with one single hook may be used, and natural bait may not be in an angler’s possession while fishing. Hatchery-supported waters are on a different calendar: the page says that season is open from 7 a.m. on the first Saturday in April through Feb. 28, with a seven-trout creel and no bait restriction.
