New Jersey transfers 250,000 pounds of 2026 bluefish quota to North Carolina

NOAA Fisheries published a temporary rule in the Federal Register on Sept. 11, 2026, covering the Atlantic bluefish commercial fishery. New Jersey is transferring 250,000 pounds of its 2026 commercial quota to North Carolina. The rule is effective Sept. 10 through Dec. 31, 2026.

The transfer was made so North Carolina would not go over its state quota. After the move, the revised 2026 commercial quotas are 408,379 pounds for New Jersey and 1,743,521 pounds for North Carolina.
