New England groundfish committee meets Oct. 19 on 2027 specs

New England groundfish managers have an October webinar on the next specifications package. A Federal Register notice published Oct. 2, 2026, sets a public meeting of the New England Fishery Management Council’s Joint Groundfish Committee and Advisory Panel for Monday, Oct. 19, at 9 a.m. EDT.

The agenda is Framework 74, the specifications and management measures now in development, plus an update on Framework 68 and draft alternatives for acceptable-biological-catch stability tools. The committee and panel will also mark up draft 2027 groundfish priorities and send feedback to the full Council for the December meeting. Recommendations still have to go to the full Council before they become an action.

Registration is on the Council’s Zoom link in the notice. The Council office is 50 Water Street, Mill 2, Newburyport, Massachusetts. Executive director Cate O’Keefe is the contact at (978) 465-0492. Ask for sign language or other aids at least five days ahead. The meeting will be recorded.
