Paducah’s Toby Corn wins the BFL Regional on Kentucky-Barkley with 42-3

US FishingKentucky

Toby Corn of Paducah, Kentucky, won the Phoenix Bass Fishing League Regional on Kentucky-Barkley Lake, which ended Saturday, Oct. 17, out of Calvert City. Major League Fishing says he weighed 14 bass over three days for 42 pounds, 3 ounces. His prize was a Phoenix 819 Pro with a 200-horsepower outboard, valued at $50,000. Mike Ward of Paris, Tennessee, was second with 40-2, and Kelly Woodruff of Portland, Tennessee, was third with 37-14.

Corn told MLF that Day 1 went badly. Wind kept him from working a topwater bite in the middle of Kentucky Lake, he had no fish at 12:30, and he weighed four. Weather turned overnight. He spent Day 2 in a release area on Lake Barkley, caught almost 17 pounds there, and went back to the same water on the final day. He fished a spinnerbait with a Zoom trailer and a Chatterbomb with a Zoom Shimmer Shad around ledges and roadbeds in the Kuttawa area. Every fish he weighed was a largemouth. Corn is 52, and he said this was his 10th boat win, six of them on Kentucky Lake.

Patrick Weir of Park Hill, Oklahoma, won the co-angler division with nine bass for 25-6 and a Phoenix 518 Pro worth $33,500. The regional was the championship for the Hoosier, Illini, Music City and Okie divisions. The top seven boaters and co-anglers qualify for the 2027 Phoenix BFL All-American, set for June 5–7 on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes in Florida.
