Northeast Indiana gets a fall trout fishery this week. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources is stocking 755 rainbow trout at three community spots in Fort Wayne and Huntington, and fishing can start once stocking finishes, expected by Friday, Oct. 23.

Shoaff Park Pond on Fort Wayne's northeast side gets 315 trout. Spy Run Creek, where it enters Franke Park across from the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo, gets 215. Memorial Park west of downtown Huntington gets 225, in its north pond only. The fish average 13 to 15 inches and come from the Curtis Creek Trout Rearing Station.

"The fall stocking program provides an accessible, family friendly opportunity," said DNR fisheries research biologist Matthew Linn. Anglers 18 and older need a valid Indiana fishing license and trout stamp, available through GoOutdoorsIN. The daily limit is five trout.
