Idaho plans more than 210,000 catchable rainbows statewide in October
Idaho Fish and Game’s October hatchery trucks are carrying more than a Clearwater story. A statewide highlights note, carried Oct. 1, 2026, by the Coeur d’Alene Press under the department’s byline and also distributed via EIN Presswire on Sept. 28, says crews plan to stock more than 210,000 catchable-sized rainbow trout across Idaho this month. That is separate from the Clearwater Region’s nearly 29,000-fish October sheet already on this desk.
In the Panhandle, highlighted plants include Cocolalla Lake 3,300; Kelso Lake 1,000; Round Lake 1,000; and Spicer Pond 800. Fish and Game called several of those easy-access, family-friendly waters, with docks or park amenities, and reminded anglers that youth under 14 fish free with a license purchase available on a phone.
Southwest Region numbers in the same statewide package include Arrowrock Reservoir 9,000; Lucky Peak Reservoir 4,000; Mann Creek Reservoir 1,400; Crane Falls Reservoir 1,200; and Boise-area plants such as 1,300 rainbows each on the Boise River from Strawberry Glen to Barber Dam and from Middleton to Eagle Road, plus smaller community ponds (Esther Simplot, Kleiner, Parkcenter, Riverside, McDevitt, and others). At Arrowrock, the note warns anglers to identify trout carefully because bull trout use the reservoir.
Dates can move with weather, staffing, or water conditions. Check the live stocking forecast before you drive. This brief is the statewide October highlights package, not a reprint of the Clearwater-only schedule.
