Clearwater Region plans nearly 29,000 catchable rainbows in October
Idaho Fish and Game posted a Sept. 29, 2026, stocking note at 5:10 p.m. MDT for the Clearwater Region. Staff plan to put out nearly 29,000 catchable rainbow trout, 10 to 12 inches, across the region in October.
The highlighted plants are Deer Creek Reservoir 3,000; Deyo Reservoir 5,000; Elk Creek Reservoir 3,000; Kiwanis Park Pond in Lewiston 900; Moose Creek Reservoir 3,000; Soldiers Meadow Reservoir 5,000; and Spring Valley Reservoir 6,000. Fish and Game described Deer Creek as a mountain reservoir built for trout fishing, Deyo and Spring Valley as waters with docks and shoreline trails, and Kiwanis Park Pond as a community pond in Lewiston next to the Snake River.
Those numbers are tentative. Stocking depends on water conditions, angler safety, weather, and staffing, and dates can move. Check the Idaho Fishing Planner and the 2025–2027 seasons and rules booklet before you go. This October schedule is separate from the September Clearwater rainbow plants already on the desk.
