US FishingColorado

Grand County’s fall bite is a three-lake story. SkyHiNews published an Oct. 1, 2026 report from guide Dan Shannon of Fishing with Bernie. At Grand Lake the ramp is open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Water is in the upper 50s to low 60s. Lake trout are fair in 35 to 60 feet on glow and chartreuse jigging Raps and spoons. Rainbows and browns in the inlets are on green-and-white or baby-rainbow jerkbaits.

Williams Fork Reservoir’s boat ramps are closed for the season. The reservoir is at 26 percent of full, projected at 6 to 15 percent by spring, and hand-launching is allowed. Shore fishing is fair at the inlets. The river below the dam is about 100 cfs and good on midges and eggs. Pike are feeding in the shallows.

Lake Granby’s Sunset Point ramp is open 6–8. Stillwater is closed. The lake is 49.5 percent full, about 44 feet down. Lake trout have slowed while staging for the spawn, in 65 to 75 feet on glow and chartreuse tubes. Rainbows are good on rocky shores with silver and pink spoons. Browns are fair in Arapaho Bay.
