Oxnard Sunday: Channel Islands boats stack whitefish, rockfish, and calico

Channel Islands Sportfishing’s Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026, Oxnard dock was a bottomfish and calico day, with yellowtail on a few of the longer boats. SoCal Fish Reports lists 7 boats and 7 trips for 168 anglers. The landing total was 546 whitefish, 372 rockfish, 295 calico bass, 61 yellowtail, 32 lingcod, 26 bonito, 19 sculpin, 13 barracuda, 9 sheephead, 5 white seabass, 3 cabezon, 1 bullet tuna, 1 striped marlin, and 1 skipjack.

The half-day and three-quarter-day boats did the volume. Speed Twin’s morning half-day, 47 anglers, landed 263 whitefish, 102 calico bass, 48 rockfish, 12 sculpin, 11 bonito, 4 barracuda, 3 cabezon, 2 sheephead, and 2 yellowtail. Gentleman’s three-quarter-day, 50 anglers, landed 110 calico, 100 rockfish, 85 whitefish, 10 bonito, 6 barracuda, 4 yellowtail, 4 white seabass, and 3 sheephead.

The overnight and full-day boats changed the mix. Indicator’s overnight, 19 anglers, landed 188 rockfish, 154 whitefish, 32 lingcod, 2 calico, and 2 sheephead — every lingcod on the landing sheet. Island Fox’s full day, 15 anglers, was 25 yellowtail and 1 striped marlin. Aloha Spirit’s full day, 17 anglers, added 16 yellowtail, 20 rockfish, 8 whitefish, 5 sculpin, 2 sheephead, 1 bonito, and 1 bullet tuna. Island Tak’s full day, 9 anglers, landed 45 calico, 11 yellowtail, 1 white seabass, and 1 skipjack. Cobra’s full day, 11 anglers, landed 36 calico, 36 whitefish, 16 rockfish, 4 bonito, 3 yellowtail, 3 barracuda, and 2 sculpin. This is Sunday’s Channel Islands sheet, separate from the Sept. 10 yellowtail-and-calico note already on the desk. Hooks Landing’s Coroloma ran the same day out of Oxnard and is not in these totals.
