Wehle Tract in Bullock County opens for camping Friday and fishing Saturday
A limited-access tract in Bullock County is on the weekend schedule again. Outdoor Alabama’s events listing has the Forever Wild Wehle Tract open from 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2026, through 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19. The gate opens Friday at 2 p.m. for campers and closes at dark. Saturday it opens at 8 a.m. for trails and fishing and closes at dark. Bank fishing at Blue Heron Lake and Wood Duck Lake runs until 4 p.m. Campers check out at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The tract is at 4819 Pleasant Hill Road in Midway. Eleven primitive campsites have power and water and no sewer, first come, first served, with no fee. More sites have no hookups. A fishing license is required for ages 16 to 64.
Forever Wild’s tract page limits fishing, on open weekends only, to the Nature Center Pond, Blue Heron Lake, and Wood Duck Lake. The creel is 10 bass and 50 bream per person. On Blue Heron Lake, bass under 14 inches must be kept and bass over 14 inches must be released. Canoes at Blue Heron are available on request.
