Southeast sea cucumber openings run Oct. 19–20, with Gravina down to a two-hour Tuesday

Zimovia Strait and Anita Bay open only Monday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The west shore of Gravina Island opens only Tuesday, 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. A longer list of areas — including Boca de Quadra, parts of Behm Canal, Moira Sound, Thorne Bay and the Kasaan Peninsula, eastern Dall Island and Soda Bay, Ernest Sound, Bradfield Canal, Stikine Strait, Southeast Baranof and Admiralty, Seymour Canal, northern Chatham Strait, Sitka Sound, and Peril Strait — opens Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to noon. The full subdistrict list is in the announcement. ADF&G offices are closed Monday for Alaska Day. The next advisory is due Thursday, Oct. 22.
The statistical-week table puts the regionwide guideline harvest level at 1,397,600 pounds, with 307,800 pounds harvested to date and 1,089,800 pounds remaining. Gravina’s west shore is nearly done: 76,300 pounds taken of an 81,900-pound GHL, leaving 5,600. Harvest in Northern Ernest Sound, Stikine Strait and Chichagof Passage, Seymour Canal, and Northern Chatham Strait is marked confidential. Fish tickets have to match 5 AAC 39.130(c), including statistical area, pounds, and any overage, before the fisher signs. Contact is Region I coordinator Troy Thynes, (907) 772-3801.
