Randolph’s Galloping Ghosts win the 2026 VPA bass fishing state title

US FishingVermont

Randolph’s bass team won the 2026 VPA bass fishing state title. WCAX’s Michael Dugan, in a story published Oct. 3 from South Hero, reported that the Galloping Ghosts weighed 24.78 pounds on Saturday. The bag was led by a 5.59-pound smallmouth. WCAX calls it the second title in program history and the first since 2019.

Sam Avery told the station, “It really means a lot to me. I’ve been looking forward to this for a year now. It’s been a really big dream of mine.” Preston Pixley said the start was rough, then they changed spots: “We found a pattern and we just kept on following that pattern and the fish just got bigger and bigger by the day.”

The dateline is South Hero. WCAX does not name the lake in the story. This is the high-school tournament result, separate from the Hatchery Cove salmon-corridor note already on the desk.

This is a The Gillnet news desk summary, not a reprint.
