Cleveland Metroparks Oct. 1: early steelhead, stray cohos, Fall Family Fishing Fest Oct. 10
Cleveland Metroparks is back on its Thursday fishing reports, which run September through May. Aquatic biologist Mike Durkalec’s Oct. 1, 2026 note has early steelhead at Edgewater, East 55th, Wildwood, the Rocky River marina, the lower Chagrin, and Euclid Creek, on spoons, spinners, and shallow Flicker Shads. A Sept. 25 electrofishing pass at the Rocky River marina turned up about 15 steelhead and three chrome coho, likely Huron strays.
The shoreline bite includes perch, white perch, sunfish, walleye, cats, and drum on minnows and worms. Walleye after dark are on Perfect 10s and Bandits. The Fall Family Fishing Fest is Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ohio & Erie Canal Reservation. It is free, with loaner poles, and the stocking for the day is 600 pounds of channel cats and 1,000 pounds of rainbows.
The two-line limit is still in effect at the listed Metroparks lakes and ponds, as it has been since July 18, 2026. This is the Oct. 1 weekly, after the Sept. 3 first-steelhead note already on the desk.
