Northwest Lower Peninsula salmon week is mixed from Manistee to Onekama
Michigan DNR’s weekly fishing report for Sept. 30, 2026, describes a mixed salmon week on the northwest Lower Peninsula. UpNorthVoice carried the report, and the Manistee News Advocate wrapped the coastal towns on Oct. 1.
Manistee was slow for salmon, with a few fish outside the pierheads and in Manistee Lake. The pier was fair for Chinook and coho on spoons. Frankfort had cooler water in, with kings and coho around, and the Betsie River producing in the deeper holes. That pier was good early and late.
Ludington’s pier was slow. Boat anglers found limited Chinook in the channel, the harbor, and in 50 to 80 feet. Onekama turned up a few coho early. Wind cut effort on other stretches of the lake. This note stays with that northwest Lower Peninsula section of the weekly report.
