MassWildlife fall trout stocking is underway with larger fish

Fall trout stocking is underway in Massachusetts. MassWildlife’s stocking report says “Fall stocking has begun!” and lists this fall’s fish as 10,750 brown trout over 12 inches, 16,300 rainbows at 12 to 13 inches, and 43,500 rainbows over 14 inches.

The map and table are updated daily. What actually goes in the water still depends on staffing, weather, and water conditions. Licenses are sold through MassFishHunt.

MassWildlife says more than 80 percent of stocked trout are now over 12 inches, compared with under 60 percent a decade ago.
