Kentucky posts October trout stocking schedule starting Oct. 6
Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources has published its October 2026 monthly trout stocking list. The first loads are set for Tuesday, Oct. 6, with 1,250 trout at Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area in Meade County and 500 at Otter Creek on Fort Knox. Wednesday, Oct. 7, puts 2,000 fish in Floyd’s Fork Creek in Jefferson County, and Thursday, Oct. 8, covers Jennings Creek (1,000) and Casey Creek (2,000).
Later October days hit a long list of put-and-take waters and coldwater tailwaters, including Nolin Lake Tailwaters, Cannon Creek and Clear Creek lakes in Bell County, Carr Creek and Buckhorn tailwaters, Paintsville and Dewey lake outlets, Cave Run and Grayson tailwaters, and Louisville-area park lakes such as Waverly, Tom Wallace, and Cherokee. Mid- and late-month plants also reach Jacobson Park Lake in Fayette County (3,000), Wood Creek Lake (4,000), and Greenbo Lake (5,500).
Kentucky reminds anglers that stocking dates on federal-property streams — including Bark Camp, Chimney Top, Craney Creek, and Hatchery Creek — and Cumberland Tailwaters are not announced ahead of time. Check the monthly page before you go; weather and water conditions can shift the trucks.
