US FishingIowa

Iowa’s fall community trout calendar is posted. The Department of Natural Resources says each community location is stocked twice, and each visit is about 1,500 trout.

The fall clock starts Friday, Oct. 23, at noon at Ada Hayden Heritage Park Lake in Ames and Lake Petocka in Bondurant. Oct. 26 at noon covers Triumph Park West and East in Waukee and Terra Lake in Johnston. Big Lake in Council Bluffs is Oct. 27 at 3 p.m., and Moorland Pond at Moorland/Fort Dodge is noon that same day. Later October stops include North Prairie Lake in Cedar Falls (Oct. 28, 11:30 a.m.), Heritage Pond in Dubuque (Oct. 28, 11 a.m.), Sand Lake in Marshalltown (Oct. 29, noon), and on Oct. 31 Discovery Park Pond in Muscatine (10 a.m.), Marr Park Pond in Ainsworth (11:30 a.m.), and Emma Young Pond in Clinton (10 a.m.).

November dates on the same table run from Ottumwa, North Liberty, Coralville, and Cedar Rapids on Nov. 2–3 through Bacon Creek Lake in Sioux City on Nov. 4, Stolley Pond in Spencer on Nov. 7, and Blue Pit in Mason City on Nov. 24. Eight of the fall stops are paired with family-friendly events: Triumph Park, Terra Lake, Ada Hayden, Lake Petocka, Stolley Pond, Discovery Park, Marr Park, and Emma Young. This pond schedule is separate from the September note that stream stocking had resumed. The full table is on the DNR page, and customer service is 515-725-8200.
