Connecticut fall trout and salmon trucks roll as of Oct. 1
Connecticut’s fall trout and salmon trucks are rolling. The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Fisheries Division stocking update as of Oct. 1, 2026, says hatchery staff plan to stock more than 60,000 trout and more than 2,000 Atlantic salmon across 38 lakes and ponds and 37 river and stream sections. Species on the fall list include brook, brown, rainbow, and tiger trout.
The Oct. 1 Daily Cast is specific. Large trophy brook trout went into sections of the Farmington River and the Quinnipiac River, Greenway section only. Bruiser rainbows went into the Blackberry River and Highland Lake. The stocked column on the same sheet marks Oct. 1 on the Blackberry River from Route 44 to Beckley Furnace, two Farmington reaches, Highland Lake in Winchester, and the Quinnipiac at the Meriden Greenway Trail.
Not every planned water gets fish on every run. DEEP says the list can change with conditions, and anglers should use the interactive stocking map. Questions go to matthew.devine@ct.gov. This freshwater fall sheet is separate from the September saltwater report already on the desk.
