Arkansas FCFP ponds got fresh October channel catfish plants
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Family and Community Fishing Program is catching up on fall channel catfish after a hot, low-water September. The stocked-ponds board lists Oct. 1 plants at Cabot Community Pond, Fort Smith’s Carol Ann Cross Pond and Wells Lake, Maumelle’s Lake Valencia, and Redfield City Park, plus an Oct. 2 load at Little Rock’s MacArthur Park Pond.
FCFP waters get 13- to 15-inch channel cats periodically from April through October, then switch to catchable rainbows in November–February. Rules on those ponds include rod-or-pole only, immediate release of largemouth bass, a three-catfish daily limit, and a fishing license for anglers 16 and older.
Some sites carry a bonus-catfish mark from a Baxter Land Company Fish Farm donation. AGFC had held trucks earlier in September until cooler nights and deeper water made stocking safer. Watch the FCFP stocking table for the next wave before winter trout trucks roll.
