Tanana District 6 subsistence restrictions lift Sept. 22 at 8 a.m.
The U.S. Interior Department’s Federal Subsistence Management Program posted a bulletin dated and last edited Sept. 21, 2026. The Yukon River in-season fisheries manager issued an emergency special action that removes subsistence fishing restrictions in the Tanana River drainage, District 6.
Once those restrictions are off, subsistence fishing for all species is allowed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, using 7.5-inch and smaller mesh gillnets and all other legal gear. The rescind time is 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, for Subdistrict 6-A and the Upper Tanana River drainage.
The action is coordinated with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and the schedules match ADF&G Fall Fishery Advisory Announcement #24. The special action is numbered 03-FC-16-26. This is a federal and state subsistence schedule, separate from a sport bag-limit change.
