Late-September Blue Sheet: Alaska salmon still about 87.5 million

Alaska FishingAlaska

Alaska’s commercial salmon tally is still sitting near 87.5 million fish, and the mix has moved since early September. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game Blue Sheet, fetched Sept. 24, 2026, shows a preliminary statewide total of 87,513 thousand fish. Figures are in thousands, refresh twice a day, leave out confidential catch, and can change.

The statewide line reads Chinook 178, chum 10,949, coho 1,495, pink 37,237, and sockeye 37,654. Compared with the sheet the desk logged on Sept. 10 (87,406 thousand, with coho at 1,285 and chum at 10,411), coho and chum are the species that climbed. Pinks are a bit lower than that earlier read. Treat this as a late-season snapshot, not a final wrap.

Bristol Bay is still the sockeye story: 29,678 thousand sockeye and 29,960 thousand salmon of all species in the bay. Southeast’s total is 27,152 thousand, including 17,115 thousand pinks. Kodiak accounts for 12,790 thousand pinks inside a Westward Region that also carries a large Alaska Peninsula sockeye catch. Add the regions yourself only as a check — the department’s statewide row is the number that already sums the sheet.

This is a The Gillnet news desk summary, not a reprint.
